Colorado turns 150 — and the CAF Mile High Wing is headlining the state's biggest Colorado Day celebration. Warbirds. Live music. A 500-drone light show. Fireworks over the Front Range. One night you'll never forget.
"These airplanes, and the men and women who built, flew and maintained them — changed the world forever. We can never let them be forgotten." — Commemorative Air Force
Your donation directly supports the maintenance, restoration, and operation of our historic aircraft. Every dollar helps us keep these irreplaceable pieces of history airworthy for future generations.

Our crown jewel is a 1943 SNB-5 — the U.S. Navy's designation for the legendary Beechcraft Model 18, one of the most produced light aircraft in history, manufactured continuously from 1937 to 1970. During World War II, the "Twin Beech" served as a trainer, light transport, and navigation aircraft for the United States Armed Forces.
Built at the Beech Aircraft factory as an SNB-2, Bureau Number 39265, this aircraft served on active duty with the U.S. Navy for 25 years. It was later remanufactured by Beechcraft into an SNB-5 in 1953 before eventually entering civilian life. The nose art name "Sonoran Beauty" — a nod to the Sonoran Desert region — was applied during its civilian career.
This particular aircraft has been lovingly restored to flying condition by the volunteer members of the CAF Mile High Wing, based at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (KBJC) in Broomfield, Colorado. Every rivet, every coat of paint, and every hour of flight is a testament to the dedication of our crew.
When you attend a 1943 Events fundraiser, you're helping ensure that future generations can stand beside — and hear the roar of — a living piece of history.
Built 1943 · U.S. Navy service 1943–1968 · Served at NAS Miami, Radar School St. Simon Island, MCAS Quantico, and Naval Air Reserve Training Twin Cities. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB and struck from Navy records April 30, 1968. Donated to Central Missouri State College 1969. Acquired by CAF Mile High Wing and returned to airworthy condition.

The North American T-28 Trojan is one of the most successful military training aircraft ever built. Developed to replace the venerable T-6 Texan, the T-28A was the U.S. Air Force's primary piston-engine trainer of the 1950s, bridging the gap between basic flight training and the jet age that was rapidly transforming military aviation.
N92TL is a T-28A variant — the original USAF configuration powered by a Wright R-1300 radial engine. With its sleek lines, tandem cockpit, and powerful radial roar, the T-28 represents the final generation of piston-powered military trainers before jets took over completely.
Thousands of U.S. Air Force pilots earned their wings in the T-28A during the 1950s and early 1960s. Many went on to fly Korea-era jets and eventually Vietnam-era combat aircraft. The T-28 occupies a unique place in aviation history — it is the aircraft that connected the propeller era to the jet age, trained the men who flew in America's most consequential Cold War conflicts, and represented American manufacturing excellence at its peak.
The Mile High Wing is proud to add this historic trainer to our fleet. N92TL will join The Sonoran Beauty at events, giving visitors a rare opportunity to experience two distinct chapters of American military aviation history side by side.

1943 EVENTS is the fundraising division of the Commemorative Air Force – Mile High Wing, based in Broomfield, Colorado. Our mission is to raise funds that keep living history alive — through community events that connect people to our aircraft, the era, and the stories that shaped our nation.
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Dallas, Texas at Dallas Executive Airport. With more than 11,000 members across the country, the CAF is one of the world's largest warbird organizations.
The CAF was founded to preserve history by restoring historic World War II aircraft back to flying condition and to educate new generations of Americans on the value of military aviation in assuring our nation's freedom. Our fleet of more than 175 aircraft — known as the CAF Ghost Squadron — recreate, remind, and reinforce the lessons learned from a defining moment in American history.
The CAF Mile High Wing is our local chapter, based at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (KBJC) in Broomfield, Colorado. A dedicated group of volunteers maintains and flies our aircraft — the 1943 SNB-5 "The Sonoran Beauty" and the newly arrived T-28A Trojan N92TL — and brings aviation history to the Denver metro community.
1943 Events was created as the public-facing fundraising arm of the Mile High Wing, connecting our community to our mission through memorable events that blend history, entertainment, and purpose.
Be the first to hear about upcoming events, ticket releases, and news from the hangar — including updates on the new T-28A Trojan. No spam, ever.
